Language Links located in Falmouth MA, opened in November of 2000. Language
Links, offers Spanish immersion classes and camps for children and adult
conversational classes in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian & French. Our
goal is to provide students with the opportunity to learn a second language
by being immersed in the target language while engaged in everyday activities
in a small group setting.
Language Links is registered with the Massachusetts Department of Employment
and Training as a Work Place Literacy Trainer for the Cape and Islands. Language
Links offers local businesses English as a Second Language classes for
their employees.
Language Links was awarded the Cape Cod SCORE Small Business of the
Year in 2004.
Meet our Teachers & Counselors
Maria Demeo – Language Links
Director/Teacher
Maria holds her Masters in Teaching in Spanish and English as a Second
Language from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, VT. Maria
lived, studied and taught in Spain, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. In
2000 Maria left teaching Middle School Spanish in Sandwich, MA to start
Language Links. She grew up working in Summer Camps and teaching
swimming lessons. Mother of two, she strives to create an environment
where children can learn a second language through play and creative
experiences. She hopes to foster awareness for cultural differences
and to inspire children to celebrate diversity.
Nadine Deasy – Periwinkle Director
of Education/Teacher
Nadine graduated with highest honors from Boston University’s School
of Management with a degree in Business Administration and Management.
The mother of three, she received her Montessori training and certification
at Northeast Montessori Institute and has been a Children’s House
Lead Teacher at Little Harbor Montessori School for the past six years.
Northeast Montessori Institute is A.M.S. Affiliated and M.A.C.T.E Accredited. Nadine
is the Director and Lead Teacher at Periwinkle Montessori, which she
founded in 2006.
Arantxa Loinaz Barriola Visiting Children’s
Spanish Camp Counselor
Spanish teacher. She teaches mathematics in a public high school
in the Basque Country. Arantxa has 17 years teaching
experience. She worked in a campground for two summers with children
between 5 and 12. For the past 5 years she has been studying English.
Amy Long: Children’s Spanish Camp Counselor
Amy received her BA in Spanish from Bridgewater State College and holds
a Massachusetts Teacher Certification in Spanish. As a student
Amy studied in Spain and Costa Rica. Amy has 8 years teaching
experience, for the past 3 years she has been teaching Spanish in the
Quincy Public Schools. In Honduras, Amy worked as a volunteer
interpreter with Cape C.A.R.E.S. Medical Mission.
Terese Dentici Anievas – Spanish Camp Counselor
Native of Spain and new resident to Falmouth, Terese holds a B.A in both
English and German Phonology. She speaks Spanish, Basque, Italian,
German and English. She has had experience teaching ESL, Spanish,
Basque, and German at many levels including teaching Spanish at Mount
Holyoke College as a visiting teacher. Terese looks is currently
a Spanish Teacher at Plymouth North High School.
Kim Brown –Spanish Camp Counselor
Kim holds her Masters in Bilingual, ESL, and Multicultural Education. She
has taught Elementary Education in public and Private Schools in Massachusetts,
Connecticut and Costa Rica. Kim is currently a fifth grade teacher
in Newton.
Maria Alejandra Pechuk: Children’s Spanish
Class Assistant and Camp Counselor
Maria was born and raised in Argentina. She moved to the United States
in 2001 with her husband and two sons Nicolas y Tomas. In
Argentina, Maria taught Aerobics and dance to adults and children. Maria
has been assisting with the Children’s Spanish Immersion Classes
and Camps at Language Links for the past four years.
Miguel Ramirez: Spanish Camp Counselor
Native of Peru and father of two boys. Miguel lives and teaches Spanish
in Barnstable County.
Iris Govoni Reyes: Adult Spanish Teacher
Iris was born and raised in Mexico. She received a degree in Business
Administration from the University of Chihuahua. She also studied
English at Harvard University. In Mexico, Iris worked with the
Chihuahua Chamber of Commerce and a private Mexican Company conducting
business training programs. Currently Iris is the bilingual Community
Health Outreach/Enrollment Educator for the Mid-Upper Cape Community
Health Center in Hyannis. Iris teaches our Adult Conversation Classes.
Gabriele Roggiolani: Adult Italian Teacher
Gabriele grew up in Tuscany, Italy where he studied Engineering. He
moved to Massachusetts in 1994 after finishing a term in the Italian
Air Force. Currently, he is a resident of Woods Hole and owner
of Capeside Cottage Bed &Breakfast with his wife and daughter. He
is an avid Italian cook and enjoys trips home to visit family as often
as he can.
Irati Zabaleta Loinaz - Visiting Children’s Spanish
Camp Counselor
Irati is a student in a public high school in the Basque Country. She started
studying Spanish in the elementary school when she was 3. For
the past 10 years she has been studying English in the school and in
the high school.
Doris Loayza - Spanish Camp Counselor
Doris is a community psychologist from Peru who moved to the USA in
April 2007. In Peru, Doris worked for community health and education
organizations, working with children and families. She's also been
studying
Arts Education in the Rudolph Steiner tradition, and plans to be a
bilingual arts educator in the USA.
Nico Llanos - Counselor in Training (CIT)
Nico is a native Spanish Speaker and Language Links class and camp
participant since 2004.
